The City of Windsor is bringing the third annual Pooch Plunge back to Riverside Centennial Outdoor Pool on Wyandotte Street East.
The event is set for Sunday, September 13, from noon to 4:30 p.m.
The pool will be closed to humans by then, and the pool's chemistry will be adjusted for dogs.
It includes a "beach-style" shallow end allowing dogs to enter the pool gradually. The deep end will be fenced in for those dogs that want to jump into the deeper water.
The Windsor Essex County Humane Society will be on-site with interactive dog activities and merchandise for sale. It'll also accept donations.
Also at the Pooch Plunge, those who go can check out The Hungry Pooch, Barkeuterie Treat Bar, Laura's Classy Canine's Grooming and Daycare, the Lauzon Veterinary Hospital, and Windsor Fire and Rescue Services.
There are four pool sessions. From noon to 12:45 p.m., the pool will be reserved for dogs under 50 lbs. Large dogs, those over 50 lbs, can swim from 2:30 p.m. to 3:15 p.m., and from 3:45 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. All dogs can swim from 1:15 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Space is limited, so owners are urged to register by calling 519-255-1161 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. during the week. The cost is $1 per dog, free for humans, and there's a limit of three dogs with one human per dog.
