The Pelee Island Stone & Sky Music and Arts Series will celebrate the 11th anniversary of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's report with a second Coming Together event this month.
The celebration is set for September 14 to September 20, just ahead of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, September 30.
The event's organizers are also calling for national funding for Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists.
"We call upon the Canada Council for the Arts to establish, as a funding priority, a strategy for Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists to undertake collaborative projects and produce works that contribute to the reconciliation process," said a release.
It includes artist residencies, live performances, workshops, and an Indigenous Artists Fair and Seed Swap. JP Longboat, Christine Miskonoodinkwe-Smith, Gord Grisenthwaite, Nathan Adler, and Veronica Johnny, all Indigenous artists, have committed to residencies, facilitating workshops, and performing during the event on Pelee Island.
There will also be multiple art installations across the island.
The event concludes the evening of September 20 with a fire ceremony, community feast, and a live performance.
