UPDATE: Leamington intersection shut down due to chemical spill

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recommended alternate routes after a chemical spill in Leamington on Monday afternoon.

The intersection of Highway 77 and Mersea Road 7 was shut down completely as of 3 p.m. Emergency crews have responded, though there is no word on what the spill was.

The Ontario Ministry of Transportation, the Ministry of Environment, Leamington Fire Services, and the Fire and Spills Action Center have been on scene investigating the spill.

Highway 77 is also closed between Mersea Road 6 and Mersea Road 8, and Mersea Road 7 is closed between Albuna Townline and Mersea Road 12.

Alternate routes are strongly recommended.
