Windsor police say a weekend traffic stop has led to the confiscation of a BB gun and bear spray.
Officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the area of Wyandotte Street West and Bruce Avenue at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday.
The suspect vehicle, a Dodge Caravan, was stopped a short time later on Bruce near Caroline Street.
Seven people inside the minivan were arrested. An eighth person tried to run off but was recovered soon after by Windsor Police K9 Officer Timber and suffered minor injuries.
The vehicle was searched, and a BB gun was seized along with several cans of bear spray.
Three men, aged 18, 19, and 21, were each charged with possession of a dangerous weapon. The 18 and 21-year-olds were also charged with wearing a disguise to commit an offence.
Five youths, aged 15 to 17, were each charged with failure to comply with a youth sentence. Two of them were also charged with wearing a disguise to commit an offence.
The youths can not be identified under the Ontario Youth Criminal Justice Act.
The charges have not been proven in court.
