Ojibway Nature Centre turns 50, hosts open house on Saturday

The Ojibway Nature Centre is hosting an open house on Saturday to celebrate its 50th anniversary, opening on October 2, 1976.

The open house is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and residents are invited to stop by and enjoy special exhibits showcasing timeless moments in its history.

Those who miss the event can still enjoy those exhibits until the end of the year.

Half a century after it opened to the public, residents are still enjoying the prairie wildflowers, forest, and local history.

"Windsor's Ojibway Park, future home of our community's national urban park, is your premier destination for wildlife and nature, with opportunities to see species at risk and take in the sights and sounds unique to this incredible space," said Mayor Drew Dilkens. "The park is a key home to the Tufted Titmouse, Windsor's official city bird, and offers over 15 km of woodland prairie hiking trails and the state-of-the-art nature centre."

Last year, the centre won the "Best Trail" award in the 11th Annual Best of Windsor-Essex Awards.
