Home improvement retailer RONA has announced it will support 150 local hockey teams this year, including teams in Lakeshore and Tecumseh.
Through the RONA Rookies Program, the Belle River Canadians under-18 midget team and Suncounty under-11 team in Tecumseh will each get a $1,000 grant to fund participation in tournaments, apparel featuring the team's logo and the RONA logo, and fan accessories to promote team spirit.
"Hockey has deep roots in Canada's communities," said Chief Digital and Marketing Officer at RONA, Catherine Laporte. "Through the RONA Rookies Program, we are proud to support families and communities that bring the sport to life and to help more kids and teens fully enjoy their season."
The RONA Rookies Program was launched in 2024 with a mission to support families and kids in the communities where it operates and improve access to minor hockey.
