The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal is continuing its investigation into a fatal fire in Windsor.
Windsor Fire and Rescue Services said the fire killed one occupant and sent two others to the hospital. One is in critical condition.
Firefighters were called to the Dorchester Apartments on Lauzon Road Sunday morning. A total of 15 tenants were displaced.
Fire Prevention Officer Chris Kreibich expects the investigation to wrap up later in the day on Tuesday, and confirmed damage from the fire could reach $1-million.
The Office of the Ontario Fire Marshal has sent an electrical engineer to the scene to help with the investigation; however, it cautions the public from drawing any conclusions about the cause of the fire.
"From time to time, depending on the circumstances and complexity of an incident, the OFM may engage additional specialists, including technical experts, to provide specialized expertise and support the investigative process," said Jim Demetriou of the OFM in an email to WindsorNewsToday.ca. "This is part of our comprehensive approach to fire investigations and does not necessarily indicate that a particular cause has been found."
