Two firms to submit proposals for second phase of Fancsy Family Hospital

The development of the next phase of Fancsy Family Hospital construction has moved forward an important step.

Windsor Regional Hospital (WRH) and Infrastructure Ontario announced on Thursday evening that they have invited two prequalified teams to submit Requests for Proposals (RFP) to design and build the second phase of the hospital.

The two firms are EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare, and Windsor Health Infrastructure Partners.

The list was narrowed down following a competitive process earlier this year. The two finalists were chosen based on experience, qualified personnel, and financial capacity.

"The release of the RFP moves us one step closer to construction of the project's largest phase and is a testament to the continued commitment of our government partners, as well as the dedication of our project teams and community leaders, to advancing the Fancsy Family Hospital Project," said WRH President and CEO Kristin Kennedy.

The two firms will have until summer 2027 to create their proposals, which will be evaluated by WRH and Infrastructure Ontario. The winner will be announced in the fall of 2027.

This phase will be the largest of the sprawling project, involving the future Diagnostic and Treatment Block. It will house the hospital's future Emergency Department and helipad, Regional Trauma Centre, Regional Cancer Centre, Surgical Services, Critical Care, Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and Women’s and Children’s Services, plus public amenities and a Central Utility Plant.

Ground was broken on the first phase in July, with the construction of a three-storey education and administrative centre, a 700-space parking garage, and critical site infrastructure.
