Windsor Police change counter service hours on Monday

After warning the public two weeks ago that it was going to change some of its front-facing services, Windsor Police started new hours at its front counter on Monday.

The Windsor Police Services headquarters are now open to the public from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday to Friday, instead of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.

Windsor Police said the adjusted hours will help the service place more officers out in the community where they can respond to calls for service.

The change was made after an internal review of how police deliver in-person information services.

"The public will continue to have multiple ways to access police services," said a post from police on social media. "Whether you need immediate assistance, want to report a crime, or need to speak with an officer in person, Windsor Police Service remains available when you need us."

Police also said residents can continue to report crimes through emergency and non-emergency phone lines, and online through its online crime reporting tool.
