Spitfires acquire two veteran forwards for Lemieux, draft picks

The Windsor Spitfires have added to their arsenal as the season moves into 2026.

The OHL club announced on Monday that it had acquired veteran forwards Alex Pharand and Nathan Villeneuve from the Sudbury Wolves.

Heading to Sudbury in return are forward J.C. Lemieux and a package of eight draft picks.

Pharand, a Sudbury native, has played 37 games for his hometown Wolves this season, recording 10 goals for 26 points. The fifth-year player has compiled 168 points in 293 career OHL games, and his NHL rights are owned by the Chicago Blackhawks.

Villeneuve is from Ottawa and was chosen third overall by Sudbury in the 2022 OHL Priority Selection. So far this season, he has played in 28 games and recorded 16 goals, totaling 44 points. He has been drafted by the NHL's Seattle Kraken.

Lemieux, whose hometown is Gatineau, Quebec, heads to Sudbury with ten goals on the year so far for 18 points, and a plus-minus rating of eight.

"The Spitfires would like to wish J.C. the best of luck in Sudbury," read a media release from the team.

Windsor is sending a third-round draft pick for this year, a second-round pick in 2027, one second-round, two third-round, and a fifth-round pick in 2028, and a fourth and fifth-round pick in 2029.
