A 19-year-old man has been charged for allegedly assaulting and injuring his partner.
At around 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Chatham-Kent (CK) police were called to a home in Chatham for a potential domestic dispute.
A 22-year-old woman told officers she had been assaulted by her partner while talking on the phone, and that her leg was injured. She also claimed that she had been assaulted by the same person previously.
The man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault, assault to cause bodily harm by choking, suffocating, or strangling, forcible confinement, and failing to comply with an undertaking.
He remains in police custody awaiting a bail hearing.
Police also arrested and charged the victim since she was ordered by the court not to communicate with her partner.
