Dresden teen charged following argument involving a knife

Chatham-Kent police arrested a 19-year-old from Dresden over the weekend.

The arrest happened just before 5:30 p.m. on Sunday at a St. George Street home in Dresden.

Police were called to the address for reports of a disturbance. When they arrived, officers determined that the teen had pulled a knife during a verbal confrontation and threatened another person with it.

According to police, the victim and a witness were able to escape the incident unharmed.

The 19-year-old is facing charges including assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and uttering threats to cause death.

He was held in police custody pending a bail hearing.

Push causes injuries, assault charge

One person was hurt following an argument that got out of hand.

On Friday night, Chatham-Kent police were called to a business on Byng Avenue in Chatham.

According to investigators, an argument between two people broke out shortly before midnight, which resulted in one person being pushed to the ground. That person was injured and required medical assistance, police said.

A 49-year-old man was arrested and charged with assault causing bodily harm.

He has since been released from police custody with conditions and a future court date.

Alleged thief caught napping on the job

CK police were conducting a wellness check over the weekend when they discovered a break-in at a Chatham business.

Police said officers were in the area of Wellington Street West at about 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, when they found broken glass and evidence of forced entry at a commercial building.

Inside, investigators reportedly found a 47-year-old man sleeping with property believed to have been stolen from other parts of the building.

The man was arrested and charged with breaking and entering and mischief under $5,000.
