Wallaceburg accountant eyeing spot on CK council

The latest person hoping to be one of Wallaceburg's representatives on Chatham-Kent's next municipal council happens to be an accountant.

Chris Young has officially put his name forward, hoping to be one of two Ward 5 councillors.

He told CK News Today that he believes the municipality has a bright future and he wants to ensure Wallaceburg plays a big part.

"Wallaceburg needs strong representation amongst the rest of the council members. We don't want to be left out or left behind," explained Young.

If elected, Young would look to combat the housing crisis. He also believes the next council needs a better empathetic approach to help the growing homeless population.

"They deserve to be assisted, and we need to make our community stronger by providing opportunities to help them get back on their feet," he added.

Another top priority for Young is improving CK's aging infrastructure.

Even though he doesn't have any political experience, Young thinks he'd be a great asset for the next council thanks to his time as an accountant.

"I want to add my 20-plus years of expertise in not only capital but also operations and maintenance type expenses, budgeting, forecasting," he said.

CK's election will be on October 26, 2026.
