Chatham legend adds World Series title to his resume

A familiar name in Chatham-Kent has won the World Series with the Milwaukee Brewers.

Chatham native Doug Melvin, Special Assistant to the General Manager, was among four Canadians in the Milwaukee Brewers organization winning Major League Baseball's ultimate prize on Wednesday night.

The 74-year-old became general manager of the Brewers in 2002 and in 2015 he transitioned into an advisory role.

He is currently the senior special advisor with the team.

Melvin was inducted into the Chatham Sports Hall of Fame in 2000.

In 2011, Melvin was named by Baseball America as its Major League Executive of the Year while serving as general manager of the Brewers.

In 2012, Melvin was inducted into the Canadian Baseball Hall of Fame and six years later he was inducted onto the Milwaukee Brewers Wall of Honor.
