A Chatham football player is getting another chance to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Ethan Jordan has resigned with the Ottawa Redblacks, nearly five months after being released by the team.
He told CK News Today that he still has to earn a spot on the team.
"It's basically like getting drafted again. I get a chance to go back to camp and prove myself," explained Jordan.
He's coming off a historic season with the Laurier Golden Hawks in the Ontario University Athletics (OUA).
He made 68 catches for 1,066 yards as a wide receiver in just eight games, which led to him winning the Larry Haylor Award as the OUA's MVP and the Hec Crighton Trophy as the Most Outstanding Player in U Sports. Jordan also set several OUA and Golden Hawks records.
"From an individual standpoint, I'm very happy with my season," he said.
Jordan wouldn't say the entire season was a success, since the Golden Hawks didn't win the Yates Cup or the Vanier Cup.
Despite the lack of team success, he was still able to achieve one of the goals he set for himself at the start of the season by earning a callback from the Redblacks.
"My goal was to rejoin Ottawa. They drafted me, they invested in me, and I know they want me there," explained Jordan.
The plan for Jordan over the winter months is to keep active and get as much practice as possible.
