Five suspects arrested in Collingwood jewellery theft

Police in Collingwood have arrested five people, including three minors, following a lengthy investigation into a local jewellery theft.

On June 20 at 5 p.m., officers responded to a reported robbery at D.C. Taylor Jewellers on Hurontario Street.

Masked suspects came into the store and used tools to forcibly steal jewellery before speeding off in a vehicle.

Investigators determined the robbery was done with "coordination and a degree of planning." Police began investigating using surveillance footage and witness accounts.

Following months of work, police have now arrested and charged five suspects. Two adults, a 21-year-old of Mississauga and a 19-year-old from Toronto, and three minors from Pickering, Mississauga, and Brampton, are all now facing numerous charges including robbery with violence, possession of break in instruments, disguise with intent, and possession of property obtained by crime.

All of the accused have a court date scheduled in Collingwood at a later date.
