According to police, the driver of the SUV, a 42-year-old Brampton man, passed away in hospital on Friday, June 19, from injuries sustained in the crash.

The SUV collided with a van carrying 10 people, resulting in the death of five passengers from the same family, aged 4 to 12.

CBC has identified the deceased as Peter, Helena, Sara, Maggie, and Susy Doerksen. A funeral for the five children will be held Saturday afternoon.

The collision is still under investigation by OPP, including the Traffic Incident Management and Enforcement team and Forensic Identification Services.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information that could assist this investigation is asked to contact the Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122.

** An OPP release originally stated the man passed away on Tuesday. The story has since been corrected.
