Trafficking investigation yields nearly $77K in drugs

Police have seized $76,959 worth of drugs after searching three locations in central Sarnia as part of a drug trafficking investigation.

Members of the Sarnia Police Service (SPS) Drug Unit, Emergency Response Team, and the Intelligence Unit searched two Cotterbury Street locations and one on Cromwell Street during the early morning hours of February 5.

In total police seized the following:

- 268.51 grams of cocaine

- 606 m-eslon pills (morphine)

- 181 buprumorphione pills

- 167 dilaudid pills (hydromorphone)

- 210 TEC 3 pills (codeine)

- 1.08 grams Xylazine

- 2.5 ecstasy pills

- 230 millilitres of methadone

- three functional digital scales

- packaging materials

- metal knuckles (prohibited weapon)

- $2,037 cash

The SPS said a 61-year-old Sarnia woman was charged with the following:

- Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

- Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – morphine

- Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – hydromorphone

- Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – buprenorphine

- Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – methadone

- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000

It's alleged she also breached the conditions of her probation. City police said the accused had been serving a conditional sentence order from a previous drug trafficking conviction, where she was sentenced on January 27.

A 50-year-old Sarnia man was charged with:

- Two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine

- Two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon – brass knuckles

- Carrying a concealed weapon – brass knuckles

He has a court date scheduled for March 9.

A 38-year-old Sarnia woman was charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and has a court date set for March 10.

A 36-year-old Sarnia man was charged with possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking and has a court date scheduled for March 11.

The SPS is asking anyone with information about the drug trade to contact police as the service continues to "combat the drug trafficking that is plaguing our community."
