Plympton-Wyoming is marking a special anniversary this year.
In 2001, Plympton-Wyoming was formed through the amalgamation of the Township of Plympton and the formerly independent Village of Wyoming.
Plympton-Wyoming Special Events Committee Chair Mike Nagle said to commemorate the 25th anniversary, there's a celebration planned for Saturday, June 13.
"We're celebrating the present while recognizing the past," said Nagle. "We have grown substantially population wise obviously. Many new developments, all the way from Wyoming proper to the area along the lake shore and it's all Plympton-Wyoming."
Nagle said the party will be held from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Wyoming Fairgrounds.
"We're going to have amusement rides, dog agility demonstrations, trackless train rides, a refreshment tent, food trucks, face painting and fireworks," he said.
Live music is also scheduled with performances from Jamlachie and Brothers Wilde.
Admission is free, but parking is limited.
"We're running a LEO accessible bus from the Wyoming Legion from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m.," said Nagle.
He said several community groups were involved in the party planning including the Plympton-Wyoming Agricultural Society, Camlachie Huron Shores Optimist, Plympton-Wyoming Fire Department, the Masons, the Wyoming Legion, and the Wyoming Lioness Lions Club.
