The Municipality of Lambton Shores says the newly reconstructed Ontario Street Grand Bend Bridge will open to traffic on Friday, and is on schedule.
In an email to Sarnia News Today, Communications Manager Alex Boughen said all traffic lanes along the bridge will be opened by June 26.
He said work is still required for the west sidewalk, so it will remain closed this weekend.
Lane closures will be in effect on Monday, June 29 and Tuesday, June 30 to allow for the sidewalk and clean up work on the west side of the bridge.
Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook previously said the final layer of asphalt will not be applied until September.
Crews remained hard at work during the winter months, despite some weather-related delays.
The $7.6 million project, which also involved water and sewer infrastructure improvements, began in 2024.
The project's first phase was completed ahead of schedule, in May 2025, and phase two began a few months later.
