Lambton Public Health (LPH) says a temporary interruption to water fluoridation has ended.
The health unit reported on Monday that fluoride levels in the municipal water supply had returned to optimal levels at the Lambton Area Water Supply System (LAWSS) following completed maintenance on the fluoridation system.
"Drinking water remained safe throughout the maintenance period and continues to meet all regulatory standards," a news release said. "Maintaining optimal fluoride levels in drinking water is a safe and effective way to prevent tooth decay and support oral health."
LPH reported in April that local residents had not been receiving optimal amounts of fluoride through their drinking water since January 20.
LPH was required to notify the public when fluoride concentrations fell outside the therapeutic levels (0.6–0.8 ppm) for more than 90 consecutive days.
LAWSS supplies water to customers in Sarnia, Point Edward, St. Clair Township, Lambton Shores, Plympton-Wyoming, Warwick Township, and Brooke-Alvinston.
