Shell donates $100K to Pathways Health Centre for Children

Shell Manufacturing Centre in Corunna has donated $100,000 to Pathways Health Centre for Children in support of additional services in local First Nation Communities.

The donation will help expand pediatric developmental and rehabilitation services in Aamjiwnaang First Nation, Kettle & Stony Point First Nation, and Walpole Island First Nation.

"We are grateful for this generous gift and the opportunity to enhance services delivered in each First Nation community," said Pathways Chief Executive Officer Alison Morrison in a news release. “These new funds will be used for direct services, developed in collaboration and partnership with each community, responding to specific needs each have identified to reduce barriers so that children and families can access the services they need, in their community.”

The donation builds on the “Industry Partnership” initiative that started in 2017, where 5 local petrochemical companies, including Shell, made funding contributions to Pathways for use in service delivery with First Nations.

“This investment represents more than funding — it is an investment in the wellbeing of our children, families, and future generations. For too long, First Nation families have faced barriers to accessing specialized services close to home. Partnerships like this help move services into our communities where they are most accessible and most impactful. We appreciate Pathways and Shell for listening to community needs and supporting approaches that are developed alongside First Nations and grounded in our priorities. When we invest in our children early, we strengthen families, build healthier communities, and create opportunities for future generations to thrive.” Chippewas of Kettle and Stony Point First Nation Chief Kimberly Bressette in a news release.

The significant investment will ensure that more children will have access to the supports they need within their communities.
