Local students going to school in the fall are getting a leg up, thanks in part to the Kiwanis Club of Sarnia-Lambton Golden K.
The group has donated $4,000 to the Inn of the Good Shepherd in support of its Back-to-School Backpack program.
The initiative provides backpacks and school supplies to children and youth in need in the community.
The funds come from volunteering through the Jackpot Time Sarnia Bingo program, which is run through the Ontario Charitable Gaming Association.
The Kiwanis Golden K Club also provides a meal once per month at the Inn's soup kitchen and donates apples for the Mobile Market program.
