First-ever Sarnia Card Show brings collector community together

A first-of-its-kind card trading show is coming to Sarnia this weekend.

The inaugural event offers a community-focused way to bring hobbyists, families and local collectors together.

"It will allow people in Sarnia and Lambton County to buy, trade or sell collectible cards like Pokémon and sports cards that I know a lot of people collect here in town," said Organizer Graham Pedregosa. "We have about 28 vendors, and they all range from card shops to local collectors who have done it before and folks who go to shows across the region, and people who are doing it for the first time."

Attendees will be able to view all different kinds of cards and collectibles, and there will be prizes to be won.

"You'll be able to come in and peruse a whole bunch of tables that people have their collection set up, and folks can buy cards that they're looking for," said Pedregosa. "If they want to bring their own collection to the show, we welcome that, and they can trade or sell their cards to vendors as well. It's going to be a really fun event. We're giving out some free packs to the first 100 guests and we're also going to be giving out a free Nintendo Switch to a lucky winner."

Pedregosa noted the event is for all ages and said it's a good opportunity for younger kids to learn how to buy and trade cards.

Although the show is the first of its kind in the city, organizers are hoping to expand in the coming months.

"This is the first time we're having it in Sarnia. A lot of folks have already registered, and I think we're already having plans to expand it to a bigger venue and a bigger show in the next couple of months."

The show happens at the Polish Hall on Exmouth Street in Sarnia and goes from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, October 4.

Tickets for the show are $5; kids 11 and under get in for free. Tickets can be bought online or at the door.
