Unifor reaches tentative agreement with Vets Cab

Unifor Local 195, representing Vets Cab drivers, has reached a tentative agreement with the employer.

Earlier this week, 96.5 per cent of the the approximately 300 members voted in favour of strike action if a deal was not reached.

"The union and the company have worked really really hard as an attempt to avert strike action. Hopefully the membership comes out and supports the bargaining team recommendation," said Unifor Local 195 President Emile Nabbout.

Members will vote on the agreement on Sunday, the day their contract is set to expire.

Nabbout indicated if members do not vote in favour of the agreement, it will not signal immediate strike action. He said negotiations will continue.

"The unit hasn't made this step at this point, and we are always open for dialogue and negotiations with the company, and hopefully, if the bargaining team makes a recommendation the membership with follow suit," said Nabbout.
