Final day to file as a candidate in LaSalle's byelection

The deadline to file as a candidate in LaSalle's By-election is coming up fast.

Candidates have until 2 p.m. on Friday to file their nomination papers for the October 20th race to replace Councillor Sue Desjarlais, who died earlier this spring.

A total of seven candidates have filed so far: Mike Seguin, Brandon Meloche, Tory McKay, Brad Krewench, Kate Paddon, Robbie Durling, and Robert Moore.

Advance online voting starts October 10 and continues until Election Day on October 20.

Those who need help voting online can attend the Voter Help Centre at the LaSalle Civic Centre.

It's open on the following dates:

* October 10 from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

* October 14 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

* October 15 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

* October 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

* October 17 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

* October 20 from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.

The results of the vote will be announced soon after the polls close on October 20, and the winner will take their oath of office on October 28.

Meanwhile, the nomination period for the Ward 2 By-election in Windsor closes on October 12 at 2 p.m.

So far, that race has ten candidates vying to replace Councillor Fabio Costante after he resigned early this past summer to accept an executive director position with the Windsor Essex Community Housing Corporation.
