Two charged in break-and-enter of vacant home

LaSalle police say two people have been arrested after being caught allegedly burglarizing a vacant property.

Officers were called at around 11:30 p.m. on Thursday to the area of Reaume Road and Michigan Avenue, and a home under construction. Upon arrival, they quickly spotted a man and a woman in an outdoor shed, which contained items suggesting that they were planning to stay overnight.

The property owner contacted police earlier in the evening after discovering items in the home that did not belong to them, suggesting that someone had previously gained entry illegally.

A 37-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man were both charged with break-and-enter and obstructing a peace officer. Both were held pending a bail hearing.

The charges have not been proven in court.
