OPP respond to 4 fatalities, lay thousands of charges during Operation Impact

The OPP responded to four fatalities during the Thanksgiving Long Weekend traffic campaign, dubbed "Operation Impact."

Provincial police also laid thousands of charges during the traffic blitz.

According to the OPP, more than 8,800 traffic charges were laid across the province throughout the weekend.

That included 4,518 for speeding, accounting for over half the total charges laid. There were also 158 charges for stunt driving, 170 for impaired driving, 130 for distracted driving, and 377 for seatbelt infractions.

So far from January 1 to October 12, 2025, the OPP have responded to 244 fatal collisions that resulted in collectively losing 279 lives.
