City of Windsor receives $2.4M for hosting Caesars

The City of Windsor has received its latest quarterly payment from the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) for hosting a casino.

The payment for hosting Caesars Windsor for the second quarter of fiscal year 2025-26 is $2,433,439.

This payment covers the period from July 1 to September 30.

"Windsor is able to offer local programs and improve the quality of life of their residents through the economic activity generated through revenue from Caesars Windsor," said Ontario Minister of Tourism, Culture and Gaming Stan Cho. "The people of Ontario benefit from OLG’s gaming revenues as 100 per cent of OLG profits are reinvested in the province to support provincial priorities."

Since 1994, when the first temporary Casino Windsor opened, the City has received $107,248,803. The current resort opened in July 1998.

The payments are based on a formula in the Municipality Contribution Agreement, which is applied across all land-based casino sites in the province.
