A 40-year-old man is facing charges after a three-hour standoff with Windsor police.
Officers were called around 1p.m. Wednesday to a report of an assault at a home on Byng Road near Foster Avenue. According to police, a person told officers they had fled the home after being assualted and threatened by a man. The victim's injuries were not life-threatening.
"The suspect also allegedly threw victim’s dogs across the room and threatened to kill them," police said.
Officers were able to make verbal contact with the man, who refused to leave the home. Police cordoned off the area and called in the Emergency Services Unit and trained negotiators.
Around 4 p.m., the man surrendered and was taken into custody. He is now charged with assault and uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm.
