Point Pelee National Park will be closed between January 16 and January 21, 2026 for the second part of the annual deer cull.
Parks Canada works with the Caldwell First Nation to manage the deer population in the park to protect the ecological balance.
"This work supports Indigenous Stewardship, advancing reconciliation and supporting implementation of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act. Through collaborative decision-making, Parks Canada and Caldwell First Nation are working together to support ecosystem health and balance by reducing the white-tailed deer population," said a Parks Canada bulletin.
The park was also closed in November for a similar operation.
The park will reopen on January 22, 2026.
