Families will take a midwinter break this weekend, and that means many Windsor-Essex residents will be off on Monday, Family Day.
Family Day is a provincial holiday, and that means all provincial and municipal offices will be closed on Monday.
Canada Post delivery will take place as usual, though some retailers that have Canada Post kiosks may be closed or on shortened hours.
The same applies to big-box stores and chain restaurants, most of which will be open Monday but on abbreviated schedules. Call ahead to avoid a wasted trip.
Devonshire Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Family Day. Tecumseh Mall in Windsor is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Windsor Crossing outlet mall in LaSalle is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
LCBO stores will be closed on Monday, though some LCBO convenience outlets located inside private businesses may be open.
All Beer Store outlets will be closed.
All four publicly-funded school boards serving Windsor-Essex will take Monday off, with classes resuming Tuesday.
There will be no classes Monday at St. Clair College. However, the main campus building and computer lab, along with the Nexus Arena, will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The University of Windsor campus will be closed on Family Day. However, there are no classes this week for Reading Week.
The 211 call centre is operational 24 hours. In Windsor, the 311 call centre will be closed on Monday. For municipal emergencies such as fallen trees, sewer backups, and road damage, call (519) 255-6326, and self-serve options are available any time.
Garbage and recycling collection will take place all week during regularly-scheduled times. Residents can also check their 2025-26 waste collection calendars.
The City of Windsor's public drop-off and hazardous material waste depot will be closed on Family Day.
At the WFCU Centre, the Windsor Express will play the Glass City Wranglers in a special free game on Sunday at 3 p.m. Free tickets may be picked up at the WFCU Centre Box Office on Sunday from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The WFCU Centre ice rinks will be open on Family Day for regular ice rentals, but the indoor pool will be closed.
The Windsor Spitfires will host the Saginaw Spirit on Monday at 2:05 p.m.
All other rinks, community centres, and arenas will be closed on Family Day.
At the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre, the natatorium pool and fitness centre will be open on Monday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Adventure Bay Family Water Park will be open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Family Day, with special pricing available after 2 p.m.
The Central, Riverside, and Budimir branches of the Windsor Public Library will be open on Monday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. All other branches will be closed.
The Homelessness and Housing Help (H4) Hub will be open 24 hours to those experiencing homelessness.
The Francois Baby House and the Chimczuk Museum are closed on Monday, their normal day off.
In Tecumseh, Tecumseh Arena will be open on Family Day, with Family In Motion activities taking place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Windsor-Tecumseh MPP Andrew Dowie is also hosting a free skate from 2:45 p.m. to 4 p.m. The arena office will be closed.
Tecumseh Transit will not operate on Monday.
