The Downtown Mission heads into the final stretch before an important fundraiser.
The annual Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) walk is set for Saturday, February 28. With less than a week to go, the Mission said it is still looking for continued support.
"Every night, people come to us because they have nowhere else to go,” said Downtown Mission Executive Director Rukshini Ponniah-Goulin. "They don’t have the luxury of choosing between a warm meal or a place to sleep. They need both. When the community steps up through events like Coldest Night of the Year, it directly impacts our ability to feed and shelter those who are struggling."
As of Friday morning, the Mission raised 62 per cent of its $125,000 goal for the Coldest Night of the Year.
Funds from the two-kilometre and the five-kilometre walk support warm meals, shelter services, essential supplies, hygiene items, and supportive programs for individuals experiencing homelessness.
The 2025 event raised $125,865.50.
The Mission is happy to welcome more walkers to participate in the event. It is also looking for walk-night volunteers and team sponsors.
Donations may be made in person at the Mission located at 875 Ouellette Avenue, or online.
