WUC to start work in March on water system upgrade

The Windsor Utilities Commission starts work in March on another major upgrade to the city's water system.

It'll begin phase three of its infrastructure renewal program of the Central Corridor Feedermain project, extending from Milloy Street to the A.J. Brian Pumping Station.

The contract was awarded to Amico and involves the installation of a new prestressed concrete pressure watermain. That will go in on Milloy Street from Chandler Avenue to the Ford Test Track Park, on the west side of Ford Test Track Park from Milloy to Seminole Street, on the north side of the park from Ford Canada Driveway to just west of Central Avenue, and on Seminole Street, and on Central from Faust Street to the A.J. Brian Pumping Station.

There will be additional sewer, sanitary sewer, local water main, and road replacements on Central Avenue between Seminole and Faust.

The Windsor Utilities Commission, ENWIN, and Amico are working to minimize traffic disruptions and maintain access to local businesses, but temporary delays may occur.
