Two people injured after fire on Ouellette Avenue

Windsor fire officials say a fire on Wednesday afternoon near downtown was put out quickly.

Firefighters responded at around 2:30 p.m. to Ouellette Avenue near Montrose Street.

The home's occupant was able to use a fire extinguisher before crews arrived. Firefighters quickly put out a fire that lingered on a couch.

Two people were taken to hospital with injuries.

The cause of the fire was determined to be hot oil from a cooking fire that extended to the couch.

There was no word on a damage estimate.
