The union representing locked-out Titan Tool and Die employees has claimed that the company is using non-unionized labour.
The lockout at the Windsor plant has surpassed the 200-day mark, and Unifor has stated that it has sent reinforcements to the picket line after members reported observing "scab" labour at the plant.
Titan Tool and Die had told Unifor last month that it had planned to close the Windsor facility. Unifor Local 195 President Emile Nabbout has accused the firm of deception.
"The company told us the plant was closing, then turned around and brought scabs into the facility," said Nabbout. "After a more than 200-day lockout, Titan still refuses to come clean about the future of this facility. We will continue to strengthen our picket lines because we will not stand by while the company tries to shut out the workers who built this company."
Unifor National President Lana Payne agreed, after they contacted Titan Tool and Die for clarification on the plant's status. The company has not responded.
"The last we heard from Titan Tool, our members were told the company intended to close the facility, but now it's clear that scabs are in the plant," said Payne. "That is an utterly disgraceful way to treat these workers, their families, and the Windsor community."
The employees were locked out on August 11, 2025, after the company demanded deep concessions.
Titan Tool and Die has not responded to repeated requests from WindsorNewsToday.ca for comment.
