Windsor-born actor and writer Shane Devon Nelson made a guest appearance on HBO Max's medical drama hit 'The Pitt' released on Thursday night.
He attended the Walkerville Centre for the Creative Arts in Windsor where he fell in love with theatre. From there, he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts at Wayne State University in Detroit and later joined SAG-AFTRA.
"I went to high school with a good amount of folks who branched out and were able to make names for themselves in Toronto," Nelson said. "It just feels really nice to be a part of that collective of people who fell in love with a craft in Windsor and were able to make a living out of it."
In addition to The Pitt, the actor has an impressive roster of shows on his resume, including Murdoch Mysteries, Sheriff Country, and Chicago Fire.
Nelson also produces his own projects independently.
"I do indie short films, I write as much as I can. I've even got a play that just recently won the Windsor-Essex Playwriting Competition last year," he said.
When it comes to his experience on set, Nelson points out that "everyone tries to make each other laugh to keep the energy really light," due to the heavy subject matter of the show.
"There's an electric chemistry on set," said Nelson. "You can tell everyone's so grateful to be a part of something that's impacted so many audience members and even the medical industry itself."
Shane Devon Nelson's original psychological horror play 'The Pet' will premier and run at the Shadowbox Theatre in Windsor in October.
