Windsor-native gets four nominations at Canadian Screen Awards

It's a remarkable achievement for Samora Smallwood, a Windsor native and University of Windsor alumnus. Four nominations at the Canadian Screen Awards for her first television series, Coming Home.

The show is an adult coming-of-age romantic comedy following the adventures of Sam, a woman forced to return to her hometown. The production features an ensemble of Canadian talent, including Karen LeBlanc, Paula Brancati, Kevin Harchard, Susan Coyle, and Naomi Snieckus. Smallwood plays the lead character.

Smallwood is no stranger to the Canadian Screen Awards, having won a previous Canadian Screen Award in a Movie or Miniseries. She has been nominated in the categories of Best Lead Performance, Best Writing, Best Directing, and Best Series.

Smallwood's roots in Windsor run deep, having grown up in the city and studied at the University of Windsor. She honed her craft in local and regional theatre productions, including at Theatre Windsor.

Coming Home is currently streaming on Bell Fibe TV.

The awards will be handed out during Canadian Screen Awards Week, which runs from May 27 to May 31.
