In one day of traffic enforcement along Huron Church Road from the Ambassador Bridge to the city limits, and on the Dougall Parkway, Windsor Police laid 91 charges.
Officers laid those charges as part of their cross-jurisdictional safety initiative called "Lake to Lake - Focused and Safe."
The initiative, also carried out by the Ontario Provincial Police and the Michigan State Police, was aimed at addressing distracted driving along key transportation corridors in Ontario and Michigan.
Those charged weren't just charged with distracted driving; they were also charged with other offences. Some were caught speeding and running red lights, while others face charges for driving while suspended, driving without insurance, and misusing license plates.
One 38-year-old driver was charged with stunt driving while going 101 km/h in a 60 km/h zone.
The initiative isn't over. Windsor Police say officers will continue to target unsafe driving behaviours in the city.
