Walkerville residents urged to attend city meeting on heritage conservation district

Efforts to formally recognize the Walkerville neighbourhood's historical and cultural significance continue with a second public meeting next week.

The meeting on June 9 is planned at Walkerville Brewery, starting at 7 p.m.

This public meeting will include a presentation about the draft Walkerville Heritage Conservation Plan and Guidelines. Those who attend will also see a list identifying the heritage status of each property in the district and will learn more about the City of Windsor's next steps.

The public will have the opportunity to ask questions and give their comments.

Those who can't attend can still watch the meeting on the city's YouTube channel, and event materials will be available on the Let's Talk Windsor page online.

The last meeting, held last November, focused on expert advice from heritage consultants M.R. Letourneau and Associates.

The idea of turning Walkerville into a heritage conservation district has been around since 2023.
