Zehrs partners with city to offer shuttle to fireworks for 16th year

For the 16th year, Zehrs and Transit Windsor have partnered to provide a free shuttle bus service to the Ford Fireworks on Monday.

Starting at 6 p.m., the shuttle bus will pick riders up from Sydney Avenue at Devonshire Mall and drop them off near City Hall. In addition, all regular Transit Windsor bus service will be free starting at 6 p.m.

Councillor Renaldo Agostino says its a great way to get downtown hassle-free.

"Get the kids down there, come downtown, have a great time, enjoy a great show, come early, go to the restaurants, get something to eat, enjoy the beautiful waterfront. It really is a spectacle to see the fireworks show and then get home safely back on Transit Windsor for free," said Agostino.

The shuttle will pick people up following the fireworks across from the former Windsor Arena on McDougall Street. The shuttle will operate until midnight.

Each year, around 5,000 people use the shuttle to get downtown.

Each year, several downtown streets are closed between 6 p.m. and midnight to improve safety on the busy downtown streets.

As part of the partnership, Zehrs and Transit Windsor hosted Stuff-a-Bus campaigns throughout June to collect donations for the UHC-Hub of Opportunities. The events collected 1,550 pounds of food and $1,800 in donations.

"Today, more people are needing a food bank. We've become a necessity," said June Muir, CEO of the UHC. "We're so grateful that we have this help, and we need it."

The final Stuff-A-Bus date is June 27 at the Zehrs on Malden Road.
