OPP arrests two alleged impaired drivers in Lakeshore

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in Essex County reported two more impaired driving arrests in Lakeshore within 24 hours.

The pair of arrests came days after the OPP West Region counted eight impaired driving arrests over the Civic Holiday weekend.

The first was shortly before 3 a.m. on Thursday. Patrol officers conducted a traffic stop on County Road 22 near Wallace Line.

A 45-year-old Lakeshore man has been charged with impaired driving, resisting an officer, and refusal to comply with a demand.

The second was after a traffic stop that took place just before 1:30 a.m. on Friday. Officers stopped a vehicle on I.C Roy Drive near King Louis Street.

A 40-year-old Belle River woman has been charged with impaired driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration.

The charges have not been proven in court. Both suspects will have an opportunity to respond to the counts in a Windsor court in mid-September.

Both drivers have had their licences suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles impounded for seven days.
