The Town of Essex is getting $70,000 from Environment and Climate Change Canada to adapt to climate change.
The agency and the Federation of Canadian Municipalities announced 141 municipal adaptation projects that will share $34.2-million through the Green Municipal Fund's Local Leadership for Climate Adaptation initiative.
The funding will help municipalities make adaptation plans, comprehensive risk assessments, and complete climate-focused asset management strategies.
Projects were selected after a call for applications in June 2024.
Essex will use the cash to develop a five-year climate change adaptation plan.
