Essex OPP arrest two suspected impaired drivers within 12 hours

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) took a pair of allegedly impaired drivers into custody over a period ending Friday morning.

The first arrest took place at around 8:30 p.m. in Kingsville. Police responded to the ferry docks on a complaint about an apparent impaired driver attempting to board the Pelee Island ferry.

A 61-year-old Kingsville man has been charged with driving with excessive blood-alcohol concentration and driving with an open container.

The second arrest was in Tecumseh on Friday morning. Patrol officers stopped a vehicle for speeding at around 8 a.m. on Highway 3 near Sexton Sideroad.

A 36-year-old Essex man has been charged with stunt driving and driving with excessive blood-alcohol content.

Both drivers have had their licences suspended for 90 days, and their vehicles were impounded for seven days.

Each driver will have a chance to respond to the charges in a Windsor court in early October.
