It took just a minute for Windsor Police to arrive at the scene on Monday after a resident called about a man rummaging through a vehicle.
Officers were called to Marentette Avenue between Hanna Street East and Shepherd Street East around 1 a.m.
Once police arrived, the suspect ran off into an alleyway, but police arrested him soon after.
While searching the suspect, police found items stolen from another vehicle almost a year ago. They seized a SIN card and a pair of prescription glasses.
A 44-year-old man is now charged with attempted theft under $5,000 and possession obtained by crime under $5,000.
