The United Way Windsor-Essex kicked off its latest campaign by unveiling a mural in downtown Windsor.
The organization is looking to raise over $5 million to support programs like its Cradle to Career initiative in priority neighbourhoods.
The new mural, designed and painted by Haunted Zoo, reflects the work done by the United Way with the inclusion of healthy foods and school supplies.
"People feel better about their neighbourhoods when there's beautiful spaces," said CEO Lorraine Goddard. "This is a way for the neighbours to take pride in their neighbourhood."
The Cradle to Career initiative helps young people build pathways to success and out of poverty.
"Giving kids opportunities to reach their full potential and that's investing in all of our futures cause our kids are our future. So it's an investment in their future but it's an investment in all of our futures," said Goddard.
Following the unveiling of the new mural on University Avenue, around 100 volunteers took part in a community cleanup.
