GoFundMe for teen struck by vehicle while riding e-scooter in Windsor

A family friend of a teenage boy seriously hurt while riding an e-scooter is asking the community for support as the boy continues to recover in a London hospital.

Police say the teen was riding the e-scooter on Ford Boulevard last Tuesday morning when he was struck by a vehicle.

Since then, Mohammed Hussain has been in the Paediatric Critical Care Unit at Children's Hospital at London Health Sciences Centre.

Hussein suffered multiple fractures and has already undergone surgeries. Because of swelling on his face and neck, he is on a ventilator until plastic surgeons can repair his facial injuries.

Erin Mcclelland has set up a GoFundMe campaign to help the Hussein family with expenses while Mohammed faces a long road to recovery.

Her son, Hunter, has been Mohammed's best friend since the two were in grade 7 at Corpus Christi Catholic Elementary School.

"Mohammed is a beloved member of our community," she wrote. "He played soccer on the Brennan [High School] soccer team and has many friends at Brennan High School, Riverside Secondary School, and throughout Windsor-Essex. He is also an avid fisherman who loves participating in fishing derbies."

"Any donation, no matter the amount, would mean so much to Mohammed and his family," continued Mcclelland.

The campaign has a set target of $25,000, and as of Monday morning, has raised $4,335.
