Transit Windsor using new pay app

Nearly 12,000 users were ready to use Transit Windsor's new fare management system when it launched Monday morning.

Transit Windsor now utilizes the free Umo Mobility app for riders to pay fares, plan trips, and manage their accounts.

"This is going to provide our riders a one-stop shop where you can purchase your fares, where you can track your buses, where you can help trip planning knowing which route to take, and when to leave your house," said Executive Director James Chacko.

All buses continue to accept cash fares. Users who do not want to use the app also have to option to load an Umo card.

Launching the new system was a $3.53 million project funded by the municipal, provincial, and federal governments.

Fares on the old smart cards must be used by December 31, 2026.
