Canada's trade war with the United States will hit home later this month when Stellantis idles the Windsor Assembly Plant for three weeks.
Unifor Local 444 said production will be halted the weeks of October 19, October 26, and November 2.
A union spokesperson confirmed the company cited tariffs and volume.
Production workers are asked not to come to work those weeks unless otherwise directed by their supervisor. The schedule for skilled trades workers will be determined at a later date.
Meanwhile, talks between Stellantis and Unifor are still at an impasse. The future of the Brampton Assembly Plant remains the sticking point.
The contract for those workers expired on September 20.
Unifor represents 4,500 workers at the Windsor Assembly Plant.
