'Battle of Longwoods' to be reenacted

A famous wartime battle will be brought back to life near Mount Brydges.

The Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority (LTVCA) is teaming up with the Upper Thames Military Re-enactment Society (UTMRS) to recreate the 'Battle of Longwoods' and provide an in-depth look at life in the 19th century.

The 'Battle of the Longwoods' took place furing the War of 1812, when American forces defeated an interception attempt by British and Indigenous forces near Wardsville.

The event will include live military presentations, music, tours, food and vendors, as well as children's games and activities.

The event will take place May 2 and 3 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. at Longwoods Road Conservation Area.
